A new 1.6-micron map of Titan’s surface

چکیده
[1] We present a new map of Titan’s surface obtained in the spectral ‘window’ at 1.6 mm between strong methane absorption. This pre-Cassini view of Titan’s surface was created from images obtained using adaptive optics on the W.M. Keck II telescope and is the highest resolution map yet made of Titan’s surface. Numerous surface features down to the limits of the spatial resolution ( 200–300 km) are apparent. No features are easily identifiable in terms of their geologic origin, although several are likely craters.

A new VLT surface map of Titan at 1.575 microns
We present a first high contrast 1.575 micron surface map of Titan, that is haze corrected by simultaneously imaging the stratospheric layer. At visible and most near-infrared wavelengths, the methane rich atmosphere completely obscures the surface; only in a few narrow wavelength windows does the atmosphere become optically thin. One of the most convenient windows (Griffith et al. 2003) lies a...

متن کاملبررسی توان رسوبزایی لندفرمها براساس تغییر در کاربری اراضی (مطالعۀ موردی: دامغان)
The presence of Damghan Erg in West of Damghan Playa indicates high wind activity in this desert region. Due to technological advances and population growth in recent decades, large parts of past land uses have changed. These changes can exacerbate wind erosion and affect lands sedimentation. In this study, first, the land use maps of years 1974 and 2003 were prepared. The comparison of these m...
متن کاملToward a facile synthesis of spherical sub-micron mesoporous silica: Effect of surfactant concentration
In this paper, a facile method for preparing sub-micron spherical mesoporous silica by the sol-gel process and cationic surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) as a soft template was reported. Moreover, the effect of surfactant concentration on the specific surface area and the total pore volume was investigated. The specific surface area, pore characteristic, morphology, chemical comp...
متن کاملTitan imagery with Keck adaptive optics during and after probe entry
[1] We present adaptive optics data from the Keck telescope, taken while the Huygens probe descended through Titan’s atmosphere and on the days following touchdown. No probe entry signal was detected. Our observations span a solar phase angle range from 0.05 up to 0.8 , with the Sun in the west. Contrary to expectations, the east side of Titan’s stratosphere was usually brightest. Compiling ima...
